Our task, regarding creativity, is to help children climb their own mountains, as high as possible. No one can do more.

‘Sparking Imagination’

Learn what executive function is and the connection between executive function and imaginative play and why that is important for development in our children. Discover schema theory and how loose parts/open ended materials support schemas and executive function.

  • Participants will be able to define ‘executive function’ and cite at least two reasons why it is an important skill for young children to develop.

Participants will describe how imaginative play helps promote children’s executive function.

Participants will cite at least three ways they can encourage imaginative play.

Participants will define schemas and why loose parts/open ended materials are helpful in supporting children’s schemas and executive function.

Parents and teachers will also learn the significance of being a role model in using their own imagination and having a vision. They will understand what it means to co-create learning with a child or children. And finally, they will learn how to create environments that empower children.

  • This training is a 2-hour class.
