‘Creating a Natural Play Area’

- presented by Priscilla Patti and Megan Haynes - In this professional development training, parents and teachers will be introduced to and learn how to create for themselves Robin Christie’s three big ideas -1. Protected Spaces - any space that allows children to play without interruption,  2. Creating environments that EMPOWER children, and 3. Celebrating the CONNECTION of children with natural spaces and natural materials.



  • In this professional development training, participants will learn how to create a natural play area. We will examine learning with nature for children, parents, and educators. We will be taking a close look at characteristics of outdoor education, including - learning through your senses (sensory gardens), risk taking/challenging our bodies, importance of loose parts, and ownership of learning to develop a sense of place.

  • This training is a 2-hour class.
